Terms of Service

1. Service Description

UpDownBot provides uptime monitoring for publicly accessible URLs and health endpoints. The service checks whether your specified URLs are reachable and sends email alerts when issues are detected.

2. Acceptable Use

You may only monitor public URLs that you own or have authorization to monitor. The following are prohibited:

• Monitoring URLs you do not own or control without permission
• Using the service to scan, probe, or attack internal networks
• Attempting to monitor private, internal, or localhost addresses
• Using the service for any form of network reconnaissance or vulnerability scanning
• Submitting malicious or intentionally harmful URLs
• Creating excessive monitors to abuse the service

3. Public URLs Only

UpDownBot only monitors publicly accessible HTTP and HTTPS URLs. Private network addresses, localhost, and internal hostnames are blocked. We reserve the right to block any URL that appears to target internal infrastructure.

4. No Guarantee of Detection

While we strive for reliable monitoring, we do not guarantee perfect uptime detection. Factors including network conditions, DNS propagation, and third-party infrastructure may affect detection accuracy. UpDownBot is not a substitute for comprehensive infrastructure monitoring.

5. Monitoring Limits

Reasonable monitoring limits apply. We reserve the right to limit check frequency, number of monitors, or suspend accounts that place excessive load on our systems. Current limits are published on our pricing page.

6. Billing

Active monitors are billed at $1 per monitor per month via Stripe. Billing adjusts based on your active monitor count. You are responsible for maintaining valid payment information. Unpaid accounts may have monitors paused after a grace period.

7. Account Responsibility

You are responsible for all activity under your account, including URLs submitted for monitoring. You must provide a valid email address and keep your account credentials secure.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abusive behavior, or fail to maintain active payment. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings.

9. Limitation of Liability

UpDownBot is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages resulting from missed alerts, false positives, or service interruptions.

10. Abuse Prevention & SSRF Policy

We actively block monitoring requests to private, loopback, link-local, and cloud-provider metadata addresses (including 169.254.169.254 and equivalents). All submitted URLs are validated server-side. Any attempt to use this service to probe internal infrastructure, perform SSRF attacks, or conduct unauthorized network reconnaissance will result in immediate account termination and may be reported to relevant authorities.

11. Third-Party Websites

You must have the right to monitor any URL you submit. Monitoring a URL belonging to a third party without their permission may violate their terms of service or applicable laws (including computer access laws). UpDownBot is not responsible for your unauthorized monitoring of third-party URLs.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
